Three Questions with: Olivia Harris, Chief Creative Officer LEVO Oil Infusion

LEVO is the first premium kitchen appliance for infusing herbs in butter or oil at home. Purchase Here.

My THC Guide:

Share you story & walk us through start of LEVO Oil. What led to the creation of the world's first automated oil infuser?

Olivia Harris, Chief Creative Officer LEVO Oil Infusion:

LEVO's founder, Chrissy Bellman, had the lightbulb moment in 2011, while studying abroad. A group of American exchange students were struggling to infuse butter for brownies in their apartment kitchen in Prague. Watching them, she witnessed the difficulty of infusion firsthand. Not only was it incredibly messy, but it was impossible to mask the smell. It took an entire day for them to infuse, and the end product was sub-par. Chrissy realized there had to be a better way to infuse at home, and the concept for LEVO was born.

My THC Guide:

Give us a breakdown of the oil infusion process. What are the benefits of using LEVO Oil and how do you stack up to the competition?

Olivia Harris, Chief Creative Officer LEVO Oil Infusion:

Using LEVO is similar to making coffee or tea- we employ a steeping method to infuse the nutrients & flavors from your ingredients. Steeping takes place over time with controlled heat. LEVO allows you to choose any amount of time (up to 10 hours) and any temperature (up to 200 degrees) so you can infuse based on your ingredients and your flavor preference.

LEVO is designed to help consumers choose exactly what they put in their body. Store bought infused oils use chemical solvents to extract flavor and preservatives to lengthen shelf life. We're aiming to help people create fresh, small batch infusion easily at home and avoid over processing. Unlike competitors, LEVO does not require emulsifiers or additives to infuse- we also have a child lock safety mechanism, dishwasher safe components and laboratory stirring, which minimizes the aeration of your infusion (increasing its shelf life!).

My THC Guide:

Highlight your mission statement. What are your plans to scale and why will foodies gravitate to your product?

Olivia Harris, Chief Creative Officer LEVO Oil Infusion:

LEVO is oil infusion, reimagined. We want infusion to be an easy and cost effective way to incorporate the wellness benefits of herbs into your daily life. We have a saying "an herb is an herb is an herb" meaning that no matter what you infuse with- coconut oil and cannabis, basil and olive oil, butter and lavender- you can use LEVO for a multitude of recipes.

Currently LEVO is available on our website, www.LEVOoil.com with retail partners to be announced soon. We have exciting plans to expand our offering and evolve into a true lifestyle brand, as well as a voice of education and knowledge for at home herbalists, chefs and practitioners everywhere.

Three Questions with Dhaval Shah, Founder at Canna Syndicates - Equity Crowdfunding

To join Canna Syndicates beta platform, please visit here

My THC Guide:

Share your story, highlight your background as a CannaPrenuer. What lead you to create CannaSyndicates?

Dhaval Shah, Founder at Canna Syndicates:

I started my journey into the cannabis industry a little over two years ago with my first startup, Ganja Boxes. I had the pleasure of going through an accelerator program which allowed me to dive head first into the cannabis industry. When I was trying to fundraise for Ganja Boxes, one of the options I looked into was crowdfunding. I quickly learned I was not allowed to use most of the popular crowdfunding sites due to the fact that I was part of an industry which the federal government considered illegal. Through that experience I came up with the idea for Canna Syndicates: an equity crowdfunding platform for the AgTech industry. Since we are a FinTech technology company, we'll be allowed to have all types of companies fundraise on our platform, including cannabis companies!

My THC Guide:

Break down the opportunity. How will equity crowdfunding change the way cannabis businesses are created?

Dhaval Shah, Founder at Canna Syndicates:

According to Forbes, crowdfunding is on it's way to surpass Angle & VC funding over the next couple of years.  I see the cannabis industry playing a big role in that surge since it is currently the fastest growing industry, even bigger then the dot com boom was. I especially see a surge in equity crowdfunding in the cannabis industry due to Title III of the JOBS Act being passed last year which allows non-accredited investors to invest in companies for the first time. Entrepreneurs will be able to decide for themselves when they are ready to fundraise and use a platform like Canna Syndicates to go out and raise funds on theirs terms. I'm truly excited to see Canna Syndicates shake up the the crowdfunding space especially with cannabis companies!

My THC Guide:

As artificial intelligence technology improves, how will it impact the cannabis industry?

Dhaval Shah, Founder at Canna Syndicates:

I see AI, artificial intelligence, playing a big role on the grow side of things in the cannabis industry. I'm excited to see how AI technology will help growers learn more about their crops and help them grow with better efficiency. A company already doing this in the cannabis space is Grownetics out of Denver, CO which I'm really excited about. I also see AI technology creating a better buying experience for customers online and in-person at retail shops by helping them learn more about the products they buy to even helping them choose the right products for themselves.

Three Questions w/ Ada Lee, Executive VP at MedMen - IC³

Previewing The Institutional Capital & Cannabis Conference, March 28-29 in San Jose California. Register here.

My THC Guide:

As far as speakers & topics, give us a preview of the inaugural Institutional Capital & Cannabis Conference. Looking at the Cannabis Ecosystem as a whole, who would benefit most from attending the event in San Jose March 28-29th?

Ada Lee, Executive VP at MedMen:

The panel of speakers at IC3 reads like a who’s who of investment firms, cannabis operators, anti-Prohibition advocates and industry leaders. The conference is designed around institutional investors who are not yet in the space. These are investors who have long track records of investing successfully in various sectors and are looking for a trusted source and expertise about the cannabis industry. There are a lot of people claiming expertise today, but IMN and MedMen give the conference a lot of credibility.

My THC Guide:

Talk about the industry insights on investing in cannabis that attendees will receive. What is the mission statement & central goal of the conference?

Ada Lee, Executive VP at MedMen:

The mission is to educate the investor audience. Just like consumers are becoming more educated about the product itself, investors are looking to learn more about the industry; its intricacies, the complex regulatory landscape and the larger trends. We have assembled a comprehensive list of experts who will approach the subject from every possible angle. It is not just about understanding how marijuana is cultivated and how products are manufactured and distributed. You will also get insights from smart capital people who are already in the space like our keynote speaker Chris Leavy, a former chief investment officer at BlackRock. This is the most comprehensive look at how to invest in cannabis today.

My THC Guide:

How could Artificial Intelligence technology benefit the cannabis industry?

Ada Lee, Executive VP at MedMen:

Artificial intelligence will benefit the cannabis industry in the same way it will benefit every other industry. The cannabis industry is not unique in how it utilizes technological innovations. Cannabis cultivation uses innovations from the agricultural sector, for example. Cannabis businesses manage databases like any other business and benefits from software development to that effect. We see AI as another tool.
